False Start

As our reveal day rapidly approaches I finally cut into the fabrics and started sewing my background, only to discover that what I was creating was not going to work, so false start. But I have a pieced background ready for another quilt..... Hopefully I only make one false start.

  ( hmmmm.... what is that saying .... a camera can add ten pounds to a person? .... appears it can add a hundred wrinkles to a quilt!)

I have been busily piecing in the studio yesterday and today.  I'm liking where it's heading- and it has nothing to do with buildings!

To give you a small taste of what I've been up to--

more architecture?

Even though I have already started my piece, I had to share this with you.

It's not quilting or textiles, but I absolutely love it!  It is by an artist called Daniel Merriam.  He has a very interesting style, I think  I'll have to go and buy one!   mmmm  lutradur, and angelina and fabric paper......

Still constructing

I see that we are very quiet.  Could it be that we are still trying to find inspiration for our theme?  I know that I am still constructing.  I tried to figure out how to incorporate turrets in my piece.

Triangles may do it, but I'd like to be able to create a piece that doesn't rely on buildings to represent the theme.

Then I thought of arches.  I googled images of arches and came up with pictures like this.

This is "Delicate Arch" in the Utah state park called...you guessed it Arches National Park.  This could be considered Mother Nature's architecture.

Then I thought of gargoyles, those impressive grotesque figures that jut out from some buildings.

These are on Windsor Castle.  But again associated with buildings.  Well those are some thoughts, but I'd best get something started so that there will be something for me to reveal on August 15th.
