I was going to quilt, but. . . .
my Juki decided it wanted to eat whatever thread I fed it. So, she is now in the hospital and I'm hoping for a fast cure. I love my Bernina 1130, but NOT for free-motion quilting. So my fabric is cut, I've been thinking a lot about how I want to do the quilting- and that's all that's going on for now. Geez, I hope she's home by the weekend!!
What will I be?
Now we are down to the last three weeks! Perhaps my piece might have some of this -
or maybe it might have some of this -
I suppose I will make up my mind sometime - hopefully in the next three weeks!

Trying to get an idea firmed up, but it's not paying attention to me! How about you, are you having any luck with this challenge?Wednesday, July 20, 2011
4 weeks left to celebrate the challenge
Time flies when you’re having fun!
A few days after the celebration theme was posted by Brigitte, I managed to have some ideas translated into digital lay-outs. I did put them aside, cause I thought it was impossible to be happy with an idea this soon. However, I still like it, so why not stick with the initial idea?
I first comtemplated about celebrations all over the world, India, China, Africa, South America, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, but while making a list of those celebrations I came up with the idea to celebrate the fabrics that are made all over the world. After all, they allow us to be creative in more than one way.
This is a sneak peek of the digital lay-out that won’t give away too much of the translation into fabrics!
Nicolette
A sort of peek.
This is one of my early ideas, because I think that children are something we need to celebrate - since they are our future. The butterflies signify how the children will grow/change to become that future. The children which would be printed on organza and threadf sketched) are all from wiki media and the butterflies (which would all be made 3d from lots of different coloured threads and fabric) are clip art. This was just a digital sketch, which I often do before creating a pattern and at this stage I am working on something else entirely - but you never know!

Very quiet celebration
Where is everyone? Aren't we supposed to be working on our "celebrate" piece?
Can we have just a little peek? How about an idea? Here's something I've been thinking about.

An apology or "how to read carefully"
A quick note of correction. I'm embarrassed because it seems that I can't read properly. Rather than glossing over the words and reading "last ...challenge" on the "Twelves" blog, the operative phrasing was "last Colour Play" challenge. My sincerest apology and thank you to Terry for commenting on the previous post and letting us know that this is not the end for the Twelve by Twelve International Art Quilt Challenge.

A Gray Day celebration
With the rain pounding down and it looking like there is no end in sight, I decided to check on some of the blogs I have been following. I have to give a celebratory "Shout Out".
I just spent some time over at the Twelve by Twelve site browsing their recent reveal of "gray" quilts. If you are at all interested in stretching your quilting talents, you've just got to vist this website before it is gone. There is so much inspiration there and it shows just what quilters working together can do despite the miles between them. They spoke of their last Colour Play challenge "orange" and this appears to be the end of a wonderful ride for them.
If this is to be the last challenge for them, let's wish each of them well and periodically visit their individual blogs to see what artistic creation they are each developing.

Good Morning everyone
Wow I am just blown away by all of your art quilts. I really hope mine will fit in. They are all wonderful and I finally just said that this is it I am going to take this weekend and finsh mine up and take a look at everyone's individually and I am so glad I did they are all awesome and I do not know if mine will be able to live up to all of yours.
I am feeling better and I can see windows now and do have my tables up in my sewing room and told DH that I was going to just take this weekend and finish mine so I can start the new challenge.
The plans for my son's wedding are coming along, thank God we did not have to do much but I do feel for Sam's Mom because I know what it is like to have a daughter who wants everthing hand made and home cooked etc. They will be getting married next Saturday the 9th at the lake so please keep your fingers crossed that the weather turns out wonderful for them.
Well I just wanted to touch base with everyone and to let you all know that hopefully I will be able to post my pic soon and move on. I feel very fortunate to be in a group of such wonderful art quilters that are up to challenging themselves because that is what I want to do with myself and there is no better inspiration then other members committed to that also. For those celebrating the holiday I hope you all have a wonderful one and those that are not have a terrific weekend. It is so wonderful to be back and not unpacking and moving and all that "stuff"...enjoy!
