Started?

Well, I've done a quick sketch and pulled some fabrics - now to actually figure out what to do with them!

As much as I love the look of multi-media type projects with digitally printed images and manipulations, and all sorts of wild and wonderful embellishing techniques, I'm just not there yet, and just can't seem to find the time to spend learning and playing, so I'll be sticking with what I'm currently comfortable with.  There will be piecing, some thread sketching/painting and some FMQ.  Probably a bit of applique (raw edge no doubt!) There maybe a bit of fabric paint - we'll see how it goes.  I may even decide to iron that bunch of fabric!
Things are starting to look up in my little sewing space - how about you?  Are you making any headway on this one?

  1. Nope, I’m back at what I’m comfortable with too. Fabrics are sorted out and cut, there’s some piecing to do and some quilting, maybe some stamping, handstitching and appliqué. It’s very, very basic.
We have some similar colours in our quilt, so I’m curious what yours will look like!

  2. Love the colours, but I notice that ther are no prints this time. Hmmm this will be interesting to see. I'm using some fabric paint on this one and some FMQ too. Like you and Nicolette, this one will lean toward the simplicity side of things.

  3. I was listening to debra boshert's pod cast on voodoo lounge (http://ricefz.libsyn.com/webpage/deborah-boschert-on-twelve-by-twelve-an-art-quilt-collaboration)and she said that that was one of the things she learned during the challenges, what media she liked to use and was comfortable manipulating to fit the challenges. it was a very interesting interview.
Yes, I have started, actually two, one which is the main one and a back up just in case, lol

  4. I too am staying fairly close to my comfort zone, stretching just enough but not enough to fall off the edge, I hope.

  5. That's what makes our group so much fun, the diversity of our approaches! I'm waiting for some gel medium to dry, so I can see if my digital image transfer worked. Can't wait to see how you develop the theme!

  6. Looking forward to seeing what you make! I am almost done! And this time, I did some painting! I like to try something new with each project I do.
