I'm not one for fussy - I prefer clean and simple. I like graphic. I like lines. I like colour. I like balance, although I don't always achieve it myself. Piet Mondrian's style suits me. I took the idea of a limited colour palette, and played with lines and gridwork. I introduced some neutrals, in the shape of white, grey and black.
I added additional lines through the use of stitch.

I like what you did, Janet- your clean and simple really appeals to me! I especially like your quilting and the texture it adds- much better than all-over quilting.

It most definitely is an ode to mondrian, but with more texture and modern colours. mondrian's colour palette really was too brash for me, yours is so much better. love it

ReplyDeleteThis piece has such a strong, graphic impact. The vibrant colors and just enough quilting nicely compliment each other. I also toyed with the idea of using Mondrian for my inspiration.
